A lot of chatter in the entertainment biz about the 2014 Golden Globe Awards nominations, which came out this morning. These awards are consider a good barometer of who has the best chance for Oscar gold.
The brutal historical drama, “12 Years a Slave” and the con artists drama/comedy, “American Hustle,” each picked up seven nominations to lead the motion picture categories. Here are the nominees for the top film awards.

Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
- Nebraska
- American Hustle
- The Wolf of Wall Street
- Inside Llewyn Davis
- Her
On the television side, the Netflix political drama “House of Cards” and the HBO Liberace biopix ” Behind the Candelabra” were the most honored with four nominations each.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association passed over AMC’s “Mad Men” and Showtime’s “Homeland.” No nominations for either of these acclaimed TV dramas.
Funny ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the Golden Globe Awards ceremony for the second straight year, January 12, 2014, in Beverly Hills at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
