“Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail” held onto the number one spot at the Box Office for a second week, despite being challenged by the teen heartthrobs the Jonas Brothers. The broad comedy earned an estimated $16.5 million to bring its two week total to a huge $64.8 million in the U.S.
Disney’s rock documentary, “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience,” debuted in second with around $12.7 million. Teenage girls were expected to pack the theaters and propel the film into the top spot at the Box Office. The young female fans showed up, but not in the numbers needed to dethrone Tyler Perry.
In third, Oscar winner for Best Picture of 2008, “Slumdog Millionaire” with about $12 million. This movie only cost $15 million to make. So far it has raked in more than $115 million in this country alone.
The action thriller, “Taken” came in fourth with nearly $10 million, followed by the romantic comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You” with around $5.8 million for fifth place.
