Mystery surrounding Burbank fire

So what’s up with the Wholesale Giant fire investigation? You might remember, a big blaze destroyed Wholesale Giant Inc, a tobacco and cigarette business, at 4410 West Victory Boulevard. The structure was packed with merchandise. The fire raged for hours on the morning of November 9, 2012.
The day after, I took the photo (above) of a Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent on scene. Burbank Fire Captain Peter Hendrickson told me the fire was “suspicious” and that’s why the Feds had been called in. Since then, information on the investigation has been almost nil. Can’t even get a damage estimate.
Back on December 13, I inquired about an update and got two emails from Captain Hendrickson. One said, “Still under investigation. Not sure of cost.” The second said, “No further information at this time.” I sent Captain Hendrickson another email last week asking for an update on the Wholesale Giant fire investigation. No response at all. This fire investigation is rather, ah, suspicious.

Campaign kick-off for Bob Frutos

City Council candidate, Bob Frutos, has been in election mode for several weeks, but his campaign officially kicks off next Tuesday, January 22 at Barragans Restaurant, 730 North Victory Boulevard in Burbank. Time 6:30 – 8 p.m.. To RSVP email: frutosforcitycouncil@ gmail.com .
The Burbank Leader
The editor of the Burbank Leader has a response to the scarcity of the paper on the streets. Dan Evans, Time Community Editor for the Leader, Glendale-News Press and the La Canada Valley Sun, addressed the issue in his recent Start the Presses column.
Evans wrote: “… a number of readers have called to say they’re having a hard time finding a print copy of the paper. We’ve heard you, and will be increasing the number of free papers available at news racks around town. Each of the papers’ websites has a link with a map showing individual rack locations, which also should make the papers easier to find.”
“As a reminder, our papers can be found in two ways: either in the news racks or via a Los Angeles Times subscription. They are no longer in single-copy Times sales, either in pay news racks or in stores.”
