The Box Office is losing some of its heat as the summer draws to a close. Ticket buying was slow over the long Labor Day weekend, but there were still a couple of clear cut winners.
“Tropic Thunder” held onto the number one spot for the third week in a row with an estimated haul of $14.3 million. That brings the adult comedy’s total to $86.8 million.
The other big winner was “The Dark Knight,” which became only the second movie in history to cross the $500 million mark on Sunday. Now, the Batman sequel is gunning for “Titanic” at $600.8 million.
In the top five, second place went to Fox’s new science fiction actioner “Babylon A.D.” with an estimated $12 million, followed by “The Dark Knight” earning about $11 million for a total of $504.7 million, “The House Bunny” with an estimated $10.2 million and the new political thriller, “Traitor” debuted with around $10 million.
