Yeah, they say you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning the lottery jackpot. Well, lightning struck at least twice in yesterday’s huge $648 million Mega Millions game. One winning ticket was sold in Georgia — the other in California. Finally we get some of that lottery moolah.
The lucky Cali ticket was bought at Jenny’s Gift Shop 1818 Tully Road in San Jose. That ticket is worth around $318 million. The winner has not step forward, but the owner of Thuy Nguyen met the media at his store this morning. Nguyen is thrilled about selling the winning ticket. His share — a cool $1 million. By the way, he just bought the shop four months ago. More on his story here.
After a long dry spell, two tickets with five of the winning numbers, except the Mega Ball, were sold in the Golden State, as well. One at Fullers Liquor & Deli Inc in San Diego, and the other at Square Bottle Liquor in Chula Vista. Each is worth $2, 621, 916.
Here are the winning numbers: 8, 14, 17, 20, 39 and the Mega Ball 7. This was the second largest Mega Millions jackpot ever.
There’s another Mega Millions draw on Friday, December 20. The jackpot for that is $15 million.
