Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, especially working mothers like Burbank resident, Kaili Larssen. Yesterday, Larssen was sitting out in the chilly morning under threatening skies in front of Handy Market 2514 West Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank. While some moms were being honored with pampering treatments like a trip to the day spa, or preparing for special engagements with family and friends, or just taking it easy, Larssen was trying to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Burbank & Greater East Valley.
Larssen didn’t mind the weather. She told me she hoped it would rain cause “we needed it.” Her personality was so cheerful and upbeat, you’d think she was someplace warm like inside the Glendale Galleria.
Larssen was raising funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs by selling copies of “Chicken Soup for the Soul: For Mom, with Love” by Amy Newmark. The price, $10 each. Larssen was very enthusiastic about what she was doing. She used words like “amazing” to describe the benefits of the Boys & Girls Clubs. Her daughter, now 11, has been involved for 7 years. Larssen credits the organization for providing a place for her daughter’s “social needs.”
On this day set aside for high praise for mothers, Media City Groove would like to send a shout out to Burbank mom Kaili Larssen.
