“Taylor Swift: Eras Tour” concert movie struck gold at the Box Office. Swift fans, known as Swifties, turned out for the movie debut in huge numbers. Nationwide and in Canada, the film raked in around $96 million. That’s the biggest opening weekend for a concert film ever domestically. Worldwide, the film took in at least $30 million more. “Eras Tour” easily won the number one spot at the Box Office. Swift is definitely on a roll.
The superstar kicked off her “Eras Tour” in March, taking fans down memory lane of her hits over the past 17 years. Swift has won 12 Grammys, along with many other awards. The first leg of her tour wrapped in August and reportedly grossed over $2 billion, becoming a cultural phenomenon. The movie was filmed during three nights of concerts at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles this summer. It’s playing at only AMC theaters and runs nearly three hours. Even so, some moviegoers are said to be going back for repeat screenings.
Coming in a distant second, “The Exorcist: Believer” with $11 million, followed by “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie” $6.9 million, then “Saw X” $5.7 million, and rounding out the top five, “The Creator” with $4.3 million.
