President Barack Obama is coming to town. Actually, to the Southland. During his visit, President Obama is scheduled to speak at a “Moving America Forward” rally, this Friday, October 22. Obama’s goal is to get people fired up for the final leg of the 2010 political campaign.
Today an e-mail arrived in my in-box announcing a change of venue for that rally. Earlier, it was scheduled to kick-off at USC’s McCarthy Quad, but that has now changed. At some point, organizers realized they needed a larger place to accommodate the expected crowds. So the rally has been moved to USC’s Alumni Park. If you plan to go you should enter the park from Trousdale Parkway, south of West 34th Street in Los Angeles. Gates open at 10 a.m.
There’s limited parking at the Parking Center and Parking Structure 1. Folks are encouraged to take public transportation. As you might expect, security will be tight. You’re asked not to bring bags. Also, no signs, banners, or laptops allowed.
