When was the last time you voted? I know many of you have no interest in voting and haven’t done so in years. Burbank has an election on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
We (the residents) have a chance to make a difference in the inner workings of our community by voting.
The positions available are city clerk, city treasurer, three city council seats and two seats on the board of education.
You say who cares? Let someone else do it. If, you are fine with Burbank as is, don’t bother to vote. However, you do have a say so, believe it or not.
The city council makes decisions every week that affect our communities and many times our lives, such as utility rates and traffic and sidewalk projects. There are some independent candidates running and they need your vote. Let’s get some new blood, take our town back from the narrow interest of a few. If you want big business moving into your neighborhood keep the city council’s 20 year incumbent, Dave Golonski. The same old Baloney sandwich. If not, you have choices and the chance to make a change.
Many people don’t vote, because they do not want to be called for jury duty. Get this, they can now locate you by your driver license at the DMV. Maybe someone should draft some new legislation to change this jury selection system and your freedom to vote won’t be compromised. One can only hope.
Voting is important and it’s a privilege you should not ignore. Please give this suggestion some thought.
