A bad turn of events for Actor Randy Quaid and his wife. Both were arrested Saturday evening for allegedly squatting in a guest home, on a property they once owned, in the upscale community of Montecito, in Santa Barbara County.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies reportedly were called to the property in the 13oo block of Mountain Drive to check out possible squatters in a home. When deputies arrived at the scene they discovered 59-year-old Randy Quaid and his 47-year-old wife, Evi.
The Quaids claimed to have owned the property since the 1990s, according to the sheriff’s department. However, the representative for the new owner allegedly produced documents that proved to deputies that the Quaids had sold the property several years ago.
Randy Quaid, a well-known character actor, has appeared on television and in a number films including “The Last Detail” (1973) , “Midnight Express” (1978), “Independence Day” (1996), and “Brokeback Mountain” (2005). He’s the brother of Actor Dennis Quaid.

Randy Quaid and his wife were both booked for residential felony burglary. Also, Evi Quaid was slapped with a resisting arrest charge. The bail: $50,000 each.
