An armed robbery and fire at the Sevan Mini Market is under investigation today by both the Burbank Police and Fire Departments. The market at 1516 North San Fernando Boulevard was on fire when police officers arrived on the scene last night at around 8:50 p.m. “The officers made contact with the victim, who reported he’d been robbed by at least three suspects, with one or more being armed with a firearm,” said Sergeant Claudio Losacco in a news release.
The victim, who has not been identified, reportedly suffered minor injuries. Details are still sketchy: “It is unknown what amount of currency or goods were taken by the suspects during the robbery. There is no suspect or vehicle description being released at this time. Reports of “explosions” being seen and/or heard, appear to have been caused by merchandise inside the store, not by an explosive device,” Sgt. Losacco added.
The fire “appears to be related to the robbery.” No word yet on a damage estimate.
