The Burbank Rose float 2014 is on display this weekend at the parking lot across from the Burbank Central Library North Glenoaks Boulevard and Olive Avenue. “Lights… Camera … Action!” won the Fantasy trophy at the 125th Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day. The public is invited to come out and view the float up close and to chat with some of the float volunteers.
Veteran Burbank float volunteer, Robin Hanna, answered questions for visitors who were interested in how all the flowers and organic materials are secured to the float. Hanna has lived in Burbank her entire life and has been involved in the building and decorating of 28 Burbank Rose floats!
Hanna handled two jobs on Friday. Also, she sold merchandise to help raised money for the Burbank Rose float 2015. Yes, the Burbank Tournament of Roses Association, is already planning for next year’s float. Hanna, a semi-retired accountant, is the treasurer and says the association is all-volunteer and non-profit. The city of Burbank provides some funds and they get donations.
Also, the association has a number of fundraisers throughout the year. On Tuesday, January 21, Bob’s Big Boy,4211 West Riverside Drive in Burbank, will donate 15% of the food tabs to the Burbank Tournament of Roses Association. You must present a fundraiser flyer for dine in or take out. Flyers are available at the Burbank float display. Also, for more information on fundraisers, go to the Burbank Rose float website here.
The Burbank Rose float will be on display until Tuesday, January 7, at 7 a.m.
