Tony’s Bella Vista restaurant site in Burbank sells for big bucks. The Burbank Leader made the announcement on Wednesday reporting the sale price as $2.9 million. After more than 30 years, the popular Italian restaurant closed its doors last June. The property is located at 3116 West Magnolia Blvd in Magnolia Park. The loss is deeply felt. The restaurant is on a stretch of Magnolia Blvd between Hollywood Way and Buena Vista Street, which needs more eateries and now it has one less. Magnolia Park could use the kind of help Downtown Burbank gets from city officials when it comes to bringing in new restaurants.
The broker who handled the sale, Paul Herman, of the Herman Company , told the Leader the new owners, the Rubinfeld family, plan to renovate the building and bring in another family style restaurant to serve Magnolia Park. The property is 5,541 square feet including two retail spaces being rented by a hair salon.
The restaurant is in dire need of upgrades and remodeling, so it is going to be awhile before another food business opens on the site. Also, the property is large. Hopefully, if they can’t find a single tenant, there will be options for multiple eating establishments.
Long-time Burbank businessman, Nat Rubinfeld, is the lead on this family venture. Rubinfeld owned the Burbank debt collection agency, Union Adjustment Company, for several decades. Also, he served as a Burbank Police Commissioner. Rubinfeld and his wife, Alma, have been quite active in politics, lending their support to Burbank City Councilman/Vice-Mayor, Bob Frutos, and then Los Angeles County Sheriff, Jim McDonnell, back in the fall of 2018.
