Former President Bill Clinton stumping for Hillary in Burbank yesterday. Several hundred folks braved the 80 plus degree heat to see Clinton pitch his wife as the best candidate to be the next president of the United States. Clinton stepped out to applause and cheers in front of the Olive Recreation Center on West Olive Avenue at around 11:30 a.m.
Clinton is still a pro in front of a crowd. Eloquent, witty, and rolling off stats and numbers with ease, Clinton is an engaging speaker. Clinton spent more than 35 minutes building a case for voters to cast their ballot in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, June 7 for his wife, the former First Lady, U.S. Senator, and ex-Secretary of State. “A lot of people believe this (primary) election is over, but it is not,” said Clinton. “The delegates necessary to be nominated at the Democratic convention will not be tallied until California votes.”
The ex-president told the crowd, “America is in the best shape” of any major country in the world today. He cautioned the audience not to fall for that “make America great” line, which leaves a lot of folks on the outside. On the other hand, Hillary is about “inclusive prosperity” and diversity. Also, he says Hillary should be the next president because “A, she has a record of getting a lot done with Republicans and B, has the experience, the trust, and the esteem in the rest of the world to keep us safe…”
Hillary Clinton currently has 2,313 delegates — including 1,769 pledged delegates and 544 super delegates. Sanders has 1,501 delegates and only 46 super delegates. Sanders is still fighting hard, even though the numbers are not in his favor. A candidate needs 2,383 delegates to clinch the Democratic presidential nomination. Hillary Clinton is expected to cross that threshold in the next few days.
