Moviegoers were up for outrageous comedy this weekend, and the new film, “Bruno,” delivered. “Bruno” laughed its way to an estimated $30.4 million opening to capture the title of the number one movie in the nation. “Bruno” is an R-rated comedy about a gay Austrian fashion journalist, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, who comes to America determined to become a superstar.
Once again, “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” held onto second place, this time raking in around $28.5 million. Last week’s number one flick, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” took a fall to third with $24.2 million.
The drama, “Public Enemies” came in fourth with $14.1 million, and rounding out the top five, the romantic comedy “The Proposal” with $10.5 million.
