Burbank breaks another heat record on first day of summer. The temperature has been rising since sunrise in Burbank. Before 9 .a.m. it was in the 90s. An hour or so later, the Media City smashed another record with a temperature of 107, according to the National Weather Service. Yes, it will probably get even hotter before the sun sets!

A short while ago, Burbank Police tweeted out that two of our libraries have been designated cooling centers. The Burbank Buena Vista Library, (818) 238-5620 300, North Buena Vista Street open today until 9 p.m. The Central Library, (818) 238-5600, at 110 North Glenoaks Boulevard is open until 9 p.m. tonight as well. Residents who do not have air conditioning at home are encouraged to go to a cool place to beat the heat, which includes a movie theater or an indoor mall or shopping center.
