It’s official. Outgoing City Manager, Mark Scott, will retire on February 5, 2016. The announcement this afternoon, from the Burbank City Council, following its closed-door session with City Attorney, Amy Albano, last Monday. Here’s the news release.

Burbank City Manager Mark Scott to Retire
City Council begins search for predecessor
BURBANK, Calif. (December 2, 2015) – Burbank City Council has announced that City Manager Mark Scott will retire on Friday, February 5, 2016, ending his tenure with the City.
The announcement comes after Mr. Scott’s recent decision to retire following a 38-year career in City government.
“Mark has reassured the City Council that he will be available to assist us in the transition as we find a replacement,” says Mayor Bob Frutos. “We are grateful to Mark for his service to the City of Burbank and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
I am thankful for the privilege of serving the Burbank community, working with such a dedicated City Council and talented staff team,” says Scott. “Burbank residents value their community and so do I. It is an extraordinary community.”
Mr. Scott began working for Burbank in August 2013, and will continue working for the City until his retirement on February 5. Prior to coming to Burbank, he spent three years as Fresno City Manager. He spent the bulk of his career with the City of Beverly Hills, serving fourteen years as city manager.
Under a council-manager form of government, the elected members of Burbank City Council are responsible for hiring a city manager to serve as the administrative head of the city government. In closed session Monday night, Council discussed starting recruitment for selecting a new city manager. At this time, there is no timetable of when a decision will be made, but the City Council will keep the public apprised of any significant developments during the search.
