Golonski dumped, Gordon gets the endorsement
In a dramatic switch, the Burbank City Employees Association has pulled its endorsement of incumbent Councilman/Mayor, Dave Golonski, for another term. Burbank City Employees Association represents more than 750 employees and is the largest of the city unions, according to its website. Apparently some recent comments by Golonski raving about the benefits of outsourcing city jobs and work did not go over very well with these city employees.
On its endorsement slate, the BCEA dropped Golonski and replaced him with Councilman David Gordon for city council, right alongside incumbent Jess Talamantes.
Frutos backs Gordon and Nos
Also, Dr. Gordon has picked up the endorsement of Councilman- Elect Bob Frutos, who has endorsed city council hopeful David Nos as well. Here’s what Frutos had to say in a statement released by his campaign:
“Council member David Gordon has Proven to be the voice of the people and has asked the tough questions that need to be asked.
David Nos, as a small business owner will bring the business perspective to compliment city council members and represents the small business community.
Bob is looking forward to serving as a council member together with Dr. David Gordon and David Nos.”
Burbank Firefighters endorse Jess Talamantes
I’ve received a number of those robocalls supporting various candidates. At least three endorsed Jess Talamantes. The latest came today from the Burbank Firefighters Local 778. The announcement is on their website — along with an endorsement of Dr.Gordon for re-election. The union represents that 100-plus sworn members of the Burbank Fire Department and around 90 retirees.
Talamantes appears to be picking up momentum in the final stretch going into the Burbank General Election, next Tuesday, April 9.
