Burbank Tournament of Roses Association has much to cheer about on this New Year’s Day. For the sixth straight year, the Burbank Rose Parade float has won an award.

Burbank’s 2015 parade entry is “Jungle Rescue,” which pays homage to volunteer firefighters in an animated scene about a group of monkeys who fight to put out a fire in a bird house. “Jungle Rescue” won the Past Presidents’ trophy for most creative design and use of both floral and non-floral materials. The theme , “Inspiring Stories.” World War 11 hero/Olympian, Louis Zamperini was the Grand Marshal of the 126th Tournament of Roses Parade. Unfortunately, Zamperini passed away last July at the age of 97. He was represented in the parade by his family.

This is one of the few floats in the 126 Tournament of Roses Parade that was built by volunteers. It’s Burbank’s 83rd entry in the famous parade.

Bill and Carol Cotter of Granada Hills designed the winning Burbank float along with Stacia Martin of Brea. This is the fourth time this team has won the Burbank float design contest. All of their design winners have picked up awards at the Tournament of Roses Parade.
