This is the big weekend for Halloween haunted houses. As I mentioned earlier, last Saturday I attended the opening of “Nightmare at the Museum,” a delightfully ghoulish experience at 907 North California Street. A skilled crew of professionals and volunteers worked for weeks to construct this scary haunt.
“Nightmare at the Museum” was open for visitors both Saturday and Sunday last weekend and made a killing: “Over 500 people have gone through the haunt despite a little rain on Sunday. So far we have raised close to $1,000 for the Family Service Agency of Burbank,” According to Steve Ferguson, one of the organizers and Chair of the Burbank Park, and Recreation & Community Services Board.
This annual Burbank haunt is free, but each year donations are collected for a specific local charity. Ferguson’s family has been putting on this haunt for two decades and still get a thrill out of it: “We have seen an increase in the number of family-based haunts and welcome them in the community. We love the fact that residents from throughout the city are, even in these tough economic times, choosing to get into the spirit of the season.”
Here’s an update on the hours. “Nightmare at the Museum” will be open tonight and tomorrow 7-10 p.m. and Sunday, Halloween, 7-9 p.m.
