The Sevan Mini Market on North San Fernando Boulevard in Burbank is boarded up today after a robbery and fire last night. As reported on Media City Groove, the market was robbed by several suspects at around 9 p.m., at least one of them was armed. Then, a fire broke out.
The fire was knocked down quickly by Burbank firefighters, but there was some damage, thought, officials would not give out an estimate. Several businesses on the second level of the structure were running fans today in an attempt to get rid of the lingering smell of smoke. At least one business, Pleasant Home Health Care, had a sign posted out front saying it was closed until next Monday due to the market fire and smoke.
The fire, “appears to be related to the robbery,” according to Burbank Police Sergeant Claudio Losacco. The robbery victim reportedly suffered minor injuries. Losacco says the unidentified victim did not know the suspects, but he says the attack didn’t appear “random.” Both the robbery and the fire are under investigation.
The surveillance system is now being reviewed by investigators. Losacco described the suspects as three white or Armenian males wearing dark clothes.
