A 40 year-old Burbank man is being held on $1, 000, 000 bail today, on suspicion of murdering his mother. Yesterday morning at around 10:40, police were called to the 4000 block of West Victory Boulevard, following a report of a person sleeping in an alley. Once at the scene, they discovered the body of a deceased female whom police have now identified as 77-year-old Maria Diaz.
The cause of death… ” is pending an autopsy by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office,” according to a news release from the BPD.
During the investigation on Monday, Moises Diaz, the victim’s son, was booked for murder . Police say the mother and son lived together in a Burbank apartment. They aren’t saying what is the evidence that linked the son to his mother’s death.
This is the first homicide of 2014 in the Media City. Police are asking for witnesses who might have been in that alley between “… 6 p.m. Sunday evening to 10 a.m. Monday morning … to contact the Burbank Police Department at 818-238-3210.”
