If you witnessed that tragic car vs Metrolink train collision in Burbank last Tuesday, September 2, police want to talk to you. It happened at Buena Vista Street and San Fernando Boulevard around 3:17 p.m. “Initial reports indicate a grey Toyota Camry, traveling southbound on Buena Vista Street, attempted to circumvent the activated railroad crossing arms when the vehicle was struck by the train, ” according to a news release from the BPD.
A male driver was the only person in the Toyota . Fawaz Fhalil, 79, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. There were 135 passengers on the commuter train. A few of the passengers were taken to the hospital with what is described as “non-life threatening injuries.”
The Burbank Traffic Bureau is handling the investigation into the accident. Anyone who might have witnessed what occurred or has any information related to the accident is asked to call the Traffic Bureau at 818-238-3100.
