The Burbank Walmart Supercenter opens tomorrow morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony and some presentations. The festivities get underway at 7:30 a.m., followed by “presentations of $12,500 in grants from Walmart to local community groups including $5,000 for the Burbank Temporary Aid Center and $2,500 each for the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank & Greater East Valley, the Burbank Police Foundation and the Burbank Community YMCA,” according to a news release.
The Supercenter is at 1301 North Victory Place. It took months to convert approximately 143,000 square feet into general merchandise and grocery sections along with a full pharmacy. “We are very happy and proud to open our new Burbank Supercenter to address the shopping needs of our customers in Burbank and the east San Fernando Valley”, said Panthi Patel, store manager, in the release. “We’ve hired a great team of associates who reflect this community and who’ve worked very hard to prepare for our store opening and to serve our customers.”
This Walmart reportedly has hired “300 full and part-time associates.” Meanwhile, two Walmart family friendly events with “free food samples” and more are being planned for this coming weekend: Saturday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, June 26, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
