It’s a hot summer for California Lottery Scratchers games. Six players have already scratched their way to $22 million dollars, according to lottery officials. Most of the winners got lucky right here in the Southland.
Tomas Garcia won $2 million playing an Instant Prize Crossword game. Garcia bought his big money card at Pat Holden Liquor in Oxnard. The owner, George Jobeh, gushed to lottery officials about the win.
“We found out from the customer (he had won). Our customers love it. We are one of the lucky spots,” Jobeh explained in a news release. This was the third major Scratchers winner for that store. The other two were worth a million bucks each.
Also, Miguel Barrera-Caro won $2 million playing an Instant Prize Crossword ticket he purchased from South City Gas in Cudahy. Meanwhile, up in San Jose, Debi Nguyen reportedly won the same prize playing the same game!
Then there is David Rodriguez who won a huge $10 million prize on a California 200X Scratchers game. That lucky game card was purchased at 7-Eleven at 4436 Sepulveda Boulevard in Culver City. Another multi-million dollar prize went to Calvin Smith. He won $5 million in the California State Riches Scratchers game card he bought at Joe’s Market in Victorville.
The most recent winner is Hector Guarchaj. He won $1 million on a Power 10’s Scratchers bought from Lee’s Liquor on 6th Street in Los Angeles.
