David Letterman’s unexpected retirement announcement today opens the door for some big changes for the next version of “Late Show.” While some of the chatter is about potential hosts .. other discussions are about a change of location for the CBS late night talk show.
Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti, reportedly has sent off a letter to CBS President, Les Moonves, offering up the City of Angels as a new site for the talk show. The Hollywood Reporter says Garcetti has promised to “… cut red tape and create financial incentives..” to lure the show away from New York City.
Well, I’m all for the “Late Show” relocating to the West Coast — but I think Burbank would be the best home for it. The Burbank Studios, the former location of the “Tonight Show,” could accommodate another talk show. Burbank Mayor, Emily Gabel-Luddy, has been talking a lot about keeping production and those all important jobs that come with it in the Media City. Now is the time to walk the walk. Mayor Luddy and the rest of the city council, city officials, and business interests in town — should come together, form a plan, and go after the next version of the “Late Show.”
