Something new at an old favorite. Built in 1949, Bob’s Big Boy at 4211 West Riverside Drive, is the oldest triple-B restaurant in the country and a local and state landmark as well. And it’s still packing them in — tourists and local folks. A while back, I hung out at a counter seat taking care of serious business with one of […]

Weather alert !! The infamous SoCal June gloom of cloudy skies with light mist, which seems more like light rain –is going to hang around through at least the weekend. Along with the overcast skies, temperatures will be on the cool side — the highs in the upper 60s — maybe even 70 or so in B-town. The good news — we’ll probably get some sunshine and an […]

Bob Frutos plans to stay involved in city matters Bob Frutos lost on two fronts recently: a city council seat in a very tight race with Emily Gabel-Luddy and last week, the city council-majority (including Gabel-Luddy) refused to re-appoint him to the Burbank Police Commission. Nevertheless, Frutos is still smiling and touting the need for change in Burbank. Frutos provided some […]

The media is all over the Arnold Schwarzenegger love child story. Today photos of the other woman, retired housekeeper Mildred Patricia “Patty” Baena, popped up — many with the child she had with the former California governor and Hollywood movie star. In most photos, the face of their love child is disguised. This photo is from the People website, where there are […]

BPD cases and lawsuits Where is ex-Burbank Police Chief, Tim Stehr? Some reports say he’s planning to continue on a loooong European vacation for at least three months, perhaps more. On the other hand, a reliable source tells me Stehr is due back in the Southland next weekend. Stehr’s vacation has resulted in an expensive delay in the discrimination and retaliation case of Burbank […]

It doesn’t look nor feel very spring-like in B-town today. The high will creep up from the 50s to only the mid-60’s. The forecast is for rain off and on today — through tomorrow. We’ve got cloudy skies and windy conditions as well. Oh, yes the sun will make a few appearance, but keep that umbrella handy.

Chick flicks are packing them in at movie theaters. Two in the last couple of weeks have beaten projections and grabbed a lot of attention away from the front runner, “Thor”. While the superhero actioner held onto first place over the weekend, the debut of the raunchy female comedy, “Bridesmaid” is the talk of Tinseltown. The comedy about a down-on-her luck […]
