The internet is buzzing about Dodger superstar Shohei Ohtani and his wife Mamiko’s appearance at the 8th Annual Blue Diamond Gala in Dodger Stadium last night. The charity event, which raises funds for the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, aims to improve education, health care, homelessness, and social justice for all of Los Angeles. Thursday night’s gala featured a concert by Grammy winner Ed Sheeran and many celebrities.
According to team owner and chairman Mark Walter, the Los Angeles Dodgers Ownership Group pledged a $50 million donation to the foundation. “Just as the Los Angeles Dodgers compete at the highest level on the field, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation is peerless in the breadth and depth of its service for the community off the field,” said Walter in a news release. “This donation underscores the importance of every goal the LADF pursues and achieves, and our hope is that together, our baseball team and the Foundation reach the greatest heights in 2024.”
Also, Dodger ownership will donate another $50 million if the Dodgers reach the World Series in 2024. Thus, there is more incentive now for slugger Ohtani and his teammates to get to swinging for the fences.
