They just kept coming by the hundreds and then by the thousands, lining up at the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder County Clerk’s building at 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk. Despite the wait of several hours in many cases, voters swamped the registrar’s office every day this past week.
In Los Angeles County, early voting began last Saturday, October 25. Since then, Registrar-Recorder County Clerk, Dean Logan says, “… more than 14,000 voters, an average of approximately 2,000 voters per day over 7 days, have arrived at the RR/CC, many armed with their sample ballots, ready to cast their votes.”
Therefore, Logan announced in a press release yesterday, the hours for early voting have been extended this weekend because they expected even more voters to take advantage of this opportunity to cast their ballots before November 4. Early voting will be going on today, Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m, Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and then on Monday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The registrar’s office is the only location for early voting in Los Angeles County. There have been some grousing about the long lines, but many early voters believe they are taking advantage of the best situation by beating what some say will be even longer delays at polling places on Election Day.
