A lot of rocking and rolling in SoCal Friday evening as dozens of earthquakes rumble through the region. A 3.6 magnitude quake near La Habra at 8:03 p.m.last night kicked off a swarm of shakers centered in Orange County. That was apparently a foreshock to a moderate 5.1 quake, which rolled and swayed through our area at around 9:09 p.m.. It was felt in seven counties — from Ventura to the Mexican border. We definitely felt that one here in Burbank!
There have been more than 30 aftershocks of that 5.1 quake — a few in the 3.0 range . Reports of damages are coming in — from a rock slide to shattered windows to water main breaks and flooded streets, to falling objects off counters, shelves, and walls in homes and businesses. Most folks are waiting until daylight to check for structural damage. Also, there are reports of minor injuries and some power outages.
Meanwhile moviegoers watching the biblical story of the great flood, which dramatically destroys the world in the film “Noah,” on Friday night — got a real shocker when the theaters began to shake from the earthquakes. Some took to Twitter to describe the experience as “freaky” and “creepy.” More on that on Mashable.
