Realtor Chris Rizzotti was the first to jump into the 2015 race for Burbank City Council, so it’s really no surprises that his yard signs are already popping up around town. Usually we do not start seeing campaign signs for the Burbank Municipal Elections until closer to the first of the year.

Whether you like it or not, Rizzotti is breaking out of the normal pattern for city election candidates. A resident sent a letter to the Burbank Leader trashing the Rizzotti camp for wrecking the holiday landscape of pretty lights and festive decorations with their yard signs. Betty Vanole called on other candidates not to follow Rizzotti’s lead: “I hope they see the error in his ways and everyone waits until the end of December to post signs. I, for one, will not vote for any candidate who doesn’t wait. I hope others will join me.”
Well, I don’t think the campaign signs are all that intrusive on the Burbank landscape. Hey, if you can overlook all those dead lawns and dirt patches in the drought stricken yards of many homes — you probably won’t be bothered by a political sign or two. Also, I think the decision to place a political sign on private property should be left up to the owner.
