Ballots for the Burbank General Municipal Election are scheduled to go into the mail today. About 61, 000 ballot packets are being sent out to registered voters in the Media City. Again, the election is mail in ballot only. You have to return the ballot envelope in the mail or drop it off at one of the designated drop-off centers. There will not be voting at the polls for this election.
During the ballot processing for last month’s primary, there was a problem with some voter signatures. City Clerk, Zizette Mullins, warns voters that their signature needs “to match” or be “close to their original signature on driver’s license” or what appears on their voter registration form. If the signature does not match, Mullins says the “ballot may not count.”
If you are not registered to vote, you still have time. The deadline to register for the April 14 general election is March 30.
Meet and Greet
A meet and greet is coming up for the candidates who made it into the run-off. The event is set for the John Burroughs High School library on West Clark Avenue in Burbank on April 2, 2015 starting at 6:30 p.m.
In the race for two seats on the city council, the contenders are incumbent Emily Gabel-Luddy, Will Rogers, Chris Rizzotti, and Juan Guillen.
There is only one seat open on the Burbank School Board. Dr. Armond Aghakhanian is facing off against Greg Sousa for that seat.
Candidates’ Forum
Also, the city council candidates will sit down for a forum next Wednesday, March 25, at the Buena Vista Library. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.
