While the candidates are out getting in some final hours of campaigning, the Burbank City Clerk’s Office is gearing up for next Tuesday’s primary election. Seven candidates are running for two open seats on the city council. They are Juan Guillen, David Nos, Chris Rizzotti, Will Rogers, Sharon Springer, Elise Stearns- Niesen, and incumbent Emily Gabel-Luddy. Six candidates are battling it out for three seats on the Burbank School Board. They are Dr. Armond Aghakhanian, Steve Ferguson, Vahe Hovanessian, Greg Sousa, Jesse “Tangk” Tangkhpanya, and incumbent Roberta Reynolds. (see Media City Groove endorsements here)
This is a mail ballot only election. As of Friday, February 20, approximately 7,200 ballots had been returned to the Burbank City Clerk’s Office. That is only a small fraction of the 61,000 or so ballots mailed out to registered voters in Burbank a few weeks ago.
City Clerk Zizette Mullins told Media City Groove in an email that “… we are hoping to get more between now and election day.”
If you haven’t already done so, you need to mark your choices on your ballot and seal it in the yellow return envelope , which was included in the voter packet. If you have not received this voter packet or have misplaced it, you need to contact the city clerk’s office for a replacement. All ballots must be received by election officials by 7 p.m. on Election Day, February 24, 2015. It’s probably too late to mail in your ballot. You don’t want to miss the deadline because of some mail delay or post office snafu. There are other options. You can deliver your ballot to one of the drop-off centers .
