Maria Shriver returns to NBC News
Maria Shriver messy break-up and separation from former California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, apparently has not hurt her reunion with NBC News. In a press release, NBC announced Shriver “… joins NBC News as a special anchor reporting on the shifting roles, emerging power and evolving needs of women in modern life.”
Shriver worked for the network as an anchor and correspondent from 1986 until 2004. Shriver’s new role at NBC reportedly “… will build upon her pioneering work as First Lady of California … from 2003-2011,” when she focused on a number of women’s initiatives and issues.
The release doesn’t say how Shriver’s plans to handle her relationship with estranged husband/actor/politician, Schwarzenegger. The couple separated in July of 2011 and Shriver later filed for divorce, after Schwarzenegger publicly admitted to fathering a child with their housekeeper, Mildred Baena. You gotta wonder how that experience will play into Shriver’s new gig.

Michael Jackson wrongful death trial
The battle over who’s responsible for the death of pop superstar, Michael Jackson, is taking place in another trial. Yesterday, lawyers for Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, and his three children, and those of the entertainment promoter AEG squared off in a Downtown Los Angeles’ court for opening statements. A lawyer for AEG warned, ” We are going to show some ugly stuff..” according to a Los Angeles Times report.
Jackson lawyers say AEG hired Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the singer’s death. Defense claims Jackson insisted on bringing Dr. Murray on board. Murray gave the singer a fatal dose of the drug, propofol. Murray was sentenced to four years in prison back in November of 2011.
“Iron Man 3” gets a high-five review
A lot of chatter about the upcoming domestic opening of “Iron Man 3” set for Friday, May 3. The Marvel blockbuster opened last week in foreign markets and racked up $198.4 million by the weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. A reviewer on the Forbes Magazine website praised “Iron Man 3” as the best comic book three-quel so far. Wow! Reviewer, Scott Mendelson, delivers a convincing argument for that accolade.
