Free day of filmmaking seminars and industry panels
Calling all filmmakers, actors, and movie fans. The Burbank International Film Festival is presenting a day of filmmaking seminars and industry panels at Woodbury University 7500 North Glenoaks Boulevard in Burbank this Saturday, April 25. The event will take place in Fletcher Jones Auditorium from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.
Panels will focus on screenwriting, representation, casting, filmmaking and production. There will be a special panel with talent agents and managers. “Headshots and resumes will be collected and presented to agents & managers for consideration,” according to a news release. Writer/director, Shane Black (“Iron Man 3”, creator of the “Lethal Weapon” films), will lead the screenwriting panel from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Black is working on the follow-up to his directorial debut, “Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang,” starring Robert Downey Jr., Val Kilmer, and Michelle Monaghan.

Weatherman Fritz Coleman at Flappers Comedy Club

NBC4 weatherman, Fritz Coleman, is set to take to the stage at Flappers Comedy Club 102 East Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank this Sunday, April 26 at 7 p.m. Coleman is a veteran weather watcher who is well-known to local television news audiences. Also, he’s a long time stand-up comic. Details here.
“Mine Eyes Hath Seen” at Banshee Theatre
Theatre Banshee is marking the 150th anniversary of the Civil War with the production of “Mine Eyes Hath Seen.” The bitter conflict is brought to life with period music and in the first-person writings of the men and women who lived through it, according to the Banshee website. Theatre Banshee is at 3435 West Magnolia Blvd in Burbank’s Magnolia Park. Information on tickets and performances here.
