The Rink in Downtown Burbank is getting some star power tomorrow. Olympic gold medal winner, Kristi Yamaguchi, is scheduled to appear at the temporary ice rink, behind Burbank City Hall, on Wednesday, December 4. Since winning the Olympic gold in women’s singles skating in 1992, Yamaguchi has been very busy with various projects from professional skating to entertainment to philanthropy to writing and more.
Also, Yamaguchi is a “Dancing with the Stars” champion . She won the dancing trophy with professional dancer, Mark Bellas, in season 6.
Yamaguchi became a New York Times bestselling author with the publication of her children’s picture books, ““Dream Big, Little Pig!” and “It’s A Big World, Little Pig!” Proceeds from the books reportedly will go to support literacy programs developed by the Always Dream Foundation, founded in 1996 by Yamaguchi. The mother of two is schedule to read from one of her books, do a photo and autograph session, and a skate along with some of the local kids at The Rink starting at 11 a.m. The Rink is located at the corner of Third Street and Orange Grove Avenue.
