The Media City is sprucing up and getting ready for Burbank on Parade this Saturday, April 26. Public Works crews were out this morning patching spots of Olive Avenue, between Keystone and Lomita Streets, the main parade route.
This is the 33rd edition of the hometown event. The Grand Marshal of this year’s Burbank On Parade is the 2012 National Teacher of the Year and Luther Burbank Middle School English teacher, Rebecca Mieliwocki. The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. with marching bands, floats, dignitaries, vintage vehicles, equestrian units and much more. The theme “Burbank: City of the Future.”
Also, there will be a Food Court in the Joslyn Adult Center parking lot, Griffith Park Drive and Clark Avenue. Food trucks will be there selling their specialities from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. At this location after the parade, awards will be handed out to the top entries.
Beaware, parking restriction signs are up along Olive Avenue from Victory Boulevard to Buena Vista Street and on some surrounding streets like Verdugo Boulevard between Virginia Avenue and Olive Avenue.
