Burbank is one step closer to getting a new hotel. Yesterday, a ceremonial ground breaking was held for the $40 million SpringHill Suites by Marriott on San Fernando Boulevard between Providencia and Santa Anita Streets adjacent to Downtown Burbank. Executives from R.D. Olson Development and Marriott International joined some City of Burbank officials for the event, according to a news release.
“SpringHill Suites will add to the continuing vibrancy of South San Fernando Boulevard, placing guests just a few strides from our wonderful downtown. This property will offer tourists yet another outstanding option, in addition to providing jobs and tax revenue to our residents,” Burbank Mayor, Emily Gabel-Luddy, said in the news release.
The new Media City hotel is expected to generate 50 full and part-time jobs. The five-story hotel will included a 170 rooms or suites, which offer free Wi-Fi, full-size office desks, separate seating areas, kitchenettes with microwaves, mini-fridges and coffee service. Among the public amenities, a lounge, meeting facilities, a fitness center, business center, guest laundry, convenience market , and a pool and spa area.
SpringHill Suites is designed to meet the meet the needs of weekday business travelers and weekend leisure guests. R.D. Olson Construction is expected to complete the project in spring 2015. R.D. Olson also developed the Residence Inn by Marriott over on South 1st Street in Downtown Burbank.
