Hackers strike again! The P.F. Chang’s restaurant chain has posted a notice on its website acknowledging a security breach. Last Tuesday, June 10, the chain was alerted to the cyber break in by the U.S. Secret Service. “We initiated an investigation with the United States Secret Service and a team of third-party forensics experts to understand the nature and scope of the incident, and while the investigation is still ongoing, we have concluded that data has been compromised,” according to the company website.
The thieves reportedly stole credit and debt card information. Due to the security compromise, P.F. Chang’s moved to a “manual credit card imprinting system for all P.F. Chang’s China Bistro branded restaurants located in the continental United States.” The chain has hundreds of restaurants in the U.S., including one at the Burbank Town Center on East Magnolia in the downtown area.
There are reports that thousands of P.F. Chang’s customers were affected by the hack and some of the stolen data is already being sold on the black market.
