A huge house fire on East Angeleno Avenue in Burbank is under investigation today. Yesterday morning, a fierce battle was waged to try to save the two-story structure. Fire crews from the surrounding area were involved in the fight. The first to arrive on the scene at around 9:40 a.m. were from Burbank and Glendale. The firefighters discovered a worker “trapped by the heat and smoke” on the roof: “Personnel quickly rescued the worker and began assessing the roof for vertical ventilation,” according to a news release sent out by Burbank Fire.
As the fire broke through the roof, the blaze went to a second alarm. Additional firefighters arrived on the scene pushing the number to more than 40. They had the blaze knocked down in about 45 minutes, but considerable damage had been done to the property. The Burbank Leader is reporting: “The damages caused by the fire… were widespread, with $500,000 in damages to the structure and $200,000 to its contents.”
The homeowner reportedly escaped the burning structure before fire crews arrived. No one was hurt.
