UPDATE: November 30, 2012 8:45 a.m.
Take-off runway lights are back on at Bob Hope Airport. The announcement is on its website.
Technical problems at Bob Hope Airport after the lights on the main take-off runway failed. Repairs are underway — but no word yet on when the work will be finished. Yesterday, there were delays and cancellations of flights causing headaches for the airlines and travelers.
“The runway lights basically burned out last night and we’ve been trying to fix them all day long, and they have not been repaired yet,” said Victor Gill with Bob Hope Airport yesterday in a report by KABC’s Amy Powell. “It’s a very complex repair.”
Despite the lighting issue, the airport remains open according to a statement posted on the Bob Hope Airport website. And there’s an advisory: “If you are planning on flying out of Burbank Bob Hope Airport, please contact your respective airline before coming to the airport.” More details here .
