Tragedy in Burbank. A man was discovered on the I-5 freeway after apparently leaping off the Magnolia Boulevard overpass this morning. Burbank Police responded to a report of a jumper in the area at around 6:30 a.m. “Responding officers arrived and found a male, approximately 60 years of age, lying in the far right lane of the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway. He was unconscious, but breathing. It does not appear he was struck by any vehicles,” according to Burbank Police spokesman Sergeant Claudio Losacco.
Paramedics arrived and treated the man at the scene and transported him to a local hospital — where he was pronounced dead. Sgt. Losacco says the victim is “not being identified, pending notification to next of kin.”
Meanwhile, traffic is back to normal after the southbound side of the I-5 freeway was closed and one eastbound lane of the Magnolia Boulevard shutdown for about 30 minutes.
