Final preparations underway today for the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Burbank. Big crowds usually show up for this yearly event. Start time 6 p.m. The rain is expected to move out by tonight, however, it will be cold — down into the 30s — and windy, gusts up to 22 MPH are expected in the Media City. So bundle up in warm clothes if you plan to attend the festivities.
The ceremony in front of Burbank City Hall, 275 E. Olive Avenue, reportedly will include the lighting of the official tree, performances by the RC Dance Center Rockettes, BHS VMA Gentlemen’s Octet, and Reach Academy, a special guest from Disney, and a visit from the jolly fellow in red and white, Santa Claus.
Following the tree lighting ceremony, folks are invited to stroll Downtown Burbank to explore hundreds of shops and eateries decked out for the season and to make a stop at The Rink, where there will be entertainment, twinkling lights and music of the season. The Rink is located behind City Hall at the corner of Third Street and Orange Grove Avenue.
