Some residents near 1030 West Olive Avenue in Burbank may still have some rattled nerves this afternoon. A loud boom, at 2:30 a.m in the vicinity of that property, jolted a number of people out of a sound sleep. Some say it sounded like an explosion or even a shotgun blast. There was no assault nor attack. It was a blown fuse in a transformer.
“Fuse going out can sound like a gunshot,” according to Joe Flores of Burbank Water and Power. Flores says the blown fuse knocked out power to 37 customers, but everything was repaired, and back to normal by 4 :30 a.m.
