A new hotel is set to open in Burbank tomorrow. The SpringHill Suites, managed by Marriott, has been under construction for more than a year. Yesterday, work crews were out putting the final touches on the 170 suite boutique-style hotel. The suites are “larger than typical hotel rooms” and according to a news release there are plenty of special amenities: “Every aspect, from furniture and lighting to colors and fabrics, has been carefully selected to offer calm and refreshing spaces. Separate living, working and sleeping spaces, featuring Smart TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges and coffee service also provide guests with flexibility and functionality.”
The front of the hotel features a work of art by Michael Hayden, who calls himself a sculptor in light. Hayden and assistant were out making some adjustments to the art piece late yesterday. Hayden describes his creations as “lumetric” sculptures. He says it took him a year to complete this sculpture and that its computer animated lights are best viewed early in the morning or at night.
The hotel is three miles from the Bob Hope Airport and within walking distance of Downtown Burbank.
