A broken reclaimed water hydrant, on California Street near the Verdugo Recreation Center, spewed gallons of water into the air this morning at around 9 :45 a m. The geyser flooded some areas of the street and produced an incredible tower of water, which appeared to shot right up into the rain clouds.
A Burbank Water and Power crew quickly arrived on the scene. The workmen repaired the damaged purple hydrant. One of them told me the damage occurred when a motorist backed into hydrant.
