Entertainer and New Jersey native, Queen Latifah, is going to sing “America The Beautiful” during the pregame festivities for Sunday’s Super Bowl. The NFL and Fox Network made the announcement in a news release yesterday. Latifah’s performance and that of opera star, Renee Fleming, singing the national anthem will be televised before the game kickoff. Bruno Mars, whose album “Unorthodox Jukebox” won Best Pop Vocal Album at last Sunday’s Grammys, will perform during halftime.
Also at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards last Sunday Latifah, who officiated at the wedding of 33 gay and straight couples during an emotional performance of “Same Love” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Mary Lambert, and Madonna.
Latifah, an actress, singer, songwriter, author, entrepreneur, producer, is the host of “The Queen Latifah Show,” which began airing in syndication last fall.
The Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks are set to face off in Super Bowl XLVIII at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Game time 3:30 PST.
