Quote of the Day:
Today is Jackie Robinson Day. Robinson broke the color line in Major League Baseball on April 15, 1947, when he put on the number 42 uniform and played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in a game against the Boston Braves. Dodgers won 5-4.
On this day, that milestone and Robinson’s legacy are being honored. Several events to inspire youngsters and college students are being held at Dodger Stadium today. Also, when the boys in blue play the Giants in San Francisco tonight they will all be wearing number 42. Since 2004, Jackie Robinson Day has been celebrated throughout baseball with players and field personnel wearing number 42 during games played on this day.
