Updated: 11:50 p.m. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is reporting a suspect in the shooting death of TV producer Joe McMahon has been located. The unidentified suspect was discovered in his vehicle, dead from an apparent “self-inflicted gunshot wound,” at around 4 p.m. in the West Los Angeles area, according to a news release. The suspect is believed to be in his early twenties. No further details at this point.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a reality TV producer, gunned down in Pasadena today. The victim has been identified as 24 year-old, Joe McMahon, an associate producer on the 2013 season of the Discovery Channel reality TV series, “Deadliest Catch.” Sheriff Deputies reportedly responded to a call of “possible gunshot victim” in the 3600 block of Yorkshire Road in East Pasadena at 2:19 a.m. and discovered McMahon “… lying on the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” according to a news release.
A woman, who identified herself as a relative of the victim, told a reporter with the San Gabriel Valley Tribune she heard several shots early this morning. L.A. County Sheriff’s Department says the investigation is “on-going” and there is no suspect information “at this time.”
“We are heartsick about this tragedy — our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to all that knew and worked with him,” the Discovery Channel said in a statement posted on Deadline.com.
