Have you noticed the lines getting longer at your favorite restaurants? It’s definitely the case in Burbank. The Tallyrand at 1700 West Olive Avenue has been popular with the locals for years, but lately the crowds of people waiting in the lobby or outside have grown. Tables are the hardest to come by on the weekends for breakfast, lunch or brunch. It’s not unusual for the wait to be longer than an hour at trendy eateries like Another Broken Egg Cafe ,250 East Olive Avenue and Bea Bea’s at the Lakeside Shopping Center, 353 North Pass Avenue.
The long lines may be annoying to customers but they’re good news for job seekers and restaurant owners in many cities, especially now that summer is just around the corner. “Driven by an improving economy, dampened gas prices and consumers’ elevated levels of pent-up demand for restaurants, 2015 will represent the third consecutive summer with a gain of at least a half-million restaurant jobs,” Bruce Grindy, chief economist for the National Restaurant Association is quoted as saying in a post on Restaurantnews.com. “Eating and drinking places added a record 551,200 summer jobs during the 2013 summer season, followed by 535,900 jobs during the 2014 season.”
California is in the top ten of states expected to add the most restaurant jobs this summer with 44,400. More on these developments here.
